Guide to travel in Colombia
Considered one of the 7 wonders of Colombia, this underground cathedral inside a salt mine is one of the most important achievements of Colombian architecture and engineering.
It is located in the municipality of Zipaquira, approximately one hour away from Bogotá. To get there you take a tour inside the mine, along an underground path full of sites carved in the rock, with high artistic wealth, such as chambers that represent the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross, among others. Once in the cathedral, you can marvel at the naves that make it up, where the play of lights, sculptures and other details will immerse you in a unique and surprising atmosphere.
Continuing the tour inside the mine, there are also museums, souvenir shops and cafes, all within this particular underground environment.
The tour is suitable for wheelchairs, although it’s ideal that visitors can be able to walk around 1Km.
Duration: 6 hours approx. (It depends on the location of your accommodation, as transfers within the city can double travel times).
