Guide to travel in Colombia
This experience allows you to discover the world of the "Silleteros", families from the eastern mountains of Medellin, who have dedicated themselves for decades to the artisan cultivation of flowers.
For many years they did it in order to support their families, when they went down the mountain, with their backs loaded with flowers to be sold in the streets of the city. The line of peasants loaded with floral arrangements, touring Medellín, was such a beautiful spectacle that it became a competitive parade, which is held once a year at the Flower Fair in Medellín, one day in August and for which they prepare the other 364 days.
During this visit, the members of a traditional "silletera" family will tell their secrets and experiences in growing flowers, assembling their arrangements or silletas, and participating in the parade. All this in a quiet country setting on the outskirts of Medellín, in the area known as Santa Elena.
